Etude VI
- notes
- from Brian Huether at guitar-dreams
- Etudes Simples VI is the sort of piece that might very well give you some new ideas of use for your own songwriting endeavors. If not, it will certainly reinforce your right hand technique.
- This guitar study by the contemporary Cuban composer Leo Brouwer features a repeating right hand pick pattern which is played over a series of chords. The chords are essentially variations of A chords. This cycling of chords and the use of open strings makes for a surreal and ominous effect. Though meant to be a classical guitar study, we can certainly adapt it for acoustic or electric guitar. It's not like we haven't done that before!
- These next 10 measures are played as straight 16th notes in 3/4 time as was the case with the first 12 measures. However, in these measures the low note switches to the low E string which demands greatuer coordination skills with the picking hand.

Alex Grabarchuk graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Linguistics from UCLA in 2009. Her musicological interests include Soviet prog rock, 20th century Russian music in general, and the female body in conducting. She is an avid performer and sings with UCLA Chorale, Chorus, and Chamber Singers, as well as playing harpsichord and singing for the UCLA Early Music Ensemble. In her free time, she enjoys traveling to her native Ukraine, exciting dining experiences, and just generally having a grand ol' time.
Experimentations with the standard solo guitar repertoire by adding another dimension with the low voice of the double bass.
Marisol has performed as a soloist in many venues, but finds ensemble performance her greatest joy and pride. She performed for over ten years with the Philadelphia Classical guitar Trio, and now with 'Sol', and new double bass and guitar duo.
